I am a third-year college student majoring in Asian American Studies. I thought this blog would be a great way to educate myself about Asian celebrities. And I hope to do that daily.
It all started when I was in my Asian American class in January 2014. Our TAs were asking a few students what Asian celebrities they know of. I don’t remember this too clearly, but I am guessing they said Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Bruce Lee. But there are plenty of other Asian celebrities in the American entertainment industry that they didn’t recall. Our TAs then mentioned about George Takei, Lucy Liu, and Sandra Oh.
Several days later, I saw a video online from ISAtv on YouTube where the Fung Brothers asked other people about other Asian celebrities, and the results were similar. Sometimes, they knew where the actor acted in, but not necessarily their name.
Afterward, I asked my brother if he could think of any Asian celebrities. We ended up coming up with 28 names – but that took us about 10 minutes and two brains. The number would have been lower if it was just one of us thinking about that.
This blog intends to talk about an Asian celebrity daily. Though they are primarily within the American entertainment industry, YouTubers will also be included because I believe they play a crucial role expanding or influencing the Asian American culture.

Asian Celebrities a Day
